- Abstract
Rose Scott, in this lecture, addresses women's inequality before the law. She touches on how the law better protects property than it does a woman or a child. She links the campaign for equal pay in the public service with the campaign for the vote. She highlights the injustice which occurs when a man owns all his wife's property, and have complete control of childrens' education, religion and domicile. She refers to a number of pieces of legislation, in particular the Girls' Protection Act, the Infants' Protection Act, and the State Children's Bill, as well as other pieces of legislation, including the Contagious Diseases Act which Scott discusses in relation to moral life.
