- Abstract
This issue contains articles on diggers' grievances which were later to become issues in the Eureka rebellion and articles on public meetings leading up to the revolt. Articles include: Editorial discussing corruption and miscarriage of justice in the case of the murder of James Scobie and the other demands of the miners (the abolition of the licensing system, representation of miners' interests in colonial councils, unbiased and equitable dispensation of justice), "Hunting the Digger", "Public Meeting on Bakery Hill", "Catholic Meeting of Last Sunday" (see separate entry [ Details... ]), "Monster Meeting", "Public Meeting at the Catholic Chapel" (see separate entry [ Details... ]), "The Military" (on reinforcements arriving from England), "The Committal of McIntyre and Fletcher" (who were charged with burning down the Eureka Hotel).
