- Abstract
The week before Occupy Melbourne began a small group attended the first meeting of the facilitation working group. It was decided to produce a guide for general assemblies based on the model of the Spanish Indignados which used consensus decision making. At the second meeting, around 50 people attended and many participants who were members of Socialist Alternative (SA) Party argued for majority decision making. This meant that the first process document "Occupy Melbourne Guide to General Assemblies" included the option of decisions being made by a 66% majority. Within the first couple of days though that provision was removed and replaced with one of stipulating a 90% majority.
