Concern about the health impacts of pesticides was raised in the 1960s by American Rachel Carson in her groundbreaking book Silent Spring. Friends of the Earth was a leading campaigner alerting Australians to the danger of the widespread use of pesticides in this country, as this 1984 leaflet shows.
