- Abstract
Horace Ratliff and Max Thomas were members of the Communist Party of Australia who were gaoled then interned by the Menzies government after the party was declared an illegal organisation in June 1940. R.M. Crawford was a Vice-President and Member of the Emergency Committee of the Australian Council for Civil Liberties in 1941. This statement which opposed the treatment of Ratliff and Thomas was given at a public meeting of the council on 27 July 1941.
