Title
Buy a Truck for the Gurindji’s
Imprint
Secondary Students for Democratic Action, Melbourne, October/Novermber 1968
Abstract

Produced as part of SSDA’s campaign to raise $4000 towards the purchase of a truck for the Gurindji’s. The 1968 strike of the Gurindji tribe on Vestey’s Wave Hill cattle station in the Northern Territory, following on from strikes of aboriginal stockmen in 1966-67, was a historic and landmark event in the struggle for aboriginal land rights. The best ‘whitefella’ account of the Gurindji saga - the camp at Wave Hill and the migration to Wattie Creek - is found in eye-witness Frank Hardy’s book "The Unlucky Australians" (Thomas Nelson, 1968). Note authorisation by H.Van Moorst, SDS. - [Ken Mansell]
