Summary
Jack McPhillips (1910-2004) joined the CPA in 1929. From 1940-1951 he held leadership positions in the Australian Workers Union and then the Federated Ironworkers Union. He was jailed twice in 1949 for activities on behalf of his union. He served as a full-time organiser for the CPA, but he resigned from that in 1971 and became a founder member of the pro-Soviet Socialist Party of Australia (SPA). He was President of the SPA from 1984-1988.
