The Active Service Brigade, formed in Sydney in 1893, was a militant organisation of the umemployed, whose immediate objectives were the decent accomodation of Sydney's workless in the barracks it ran in central Sydney, whose longer term objectives were the overthrow of capitalism and the attainment of socialism.
