Summary

Woozy magazine was published in Melbourne from 1992 to 2001 as an "anti-profit zine dedicated to fostering and reflecting 'do-it-yourself' and grassroots political and cultural scenes." It was co-edited and published by Iain McIntyre and Laura MacFarlane who, with others, also ran a related distribution service called Choozy during the late 1990s. The magazine featured dozens of writers, poets and artists and included articles, interviews and artwork about radical and anarchist politics as well as independently produced music, comics and print publications. The majority of issues were launched via gigs and performances.

Details

In 1994, Woozy described itself as follows:
"Anti-profit zine dedicated to fostering and reflecting the 'do-it-yourself' and grassroots political and cultural scenes. All profits go back into the production of the zine not into anyone's pockets." (Woozy, 1994, no. 5, p. 1, see link below). In the 'do-it-yourself' spirit, there were many references to the local punk music scene in Melbourne and around Australia in the pages of the publication.
